Muhammad Ali Admitted He Could Never Have Beaten One Heavyweight Even In His Prime

Muhammad Ali is often regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing, but once revealed the one fighter that he would not have beaten during his glittering career.Ali’s incredible legacy still lives on in the present day, having cemented himself as one of, if not the greatest heavyweight of all time in a professional career that spanned over 20-years. He captured the world heavyweight championship for the first time in 1964 with a historic victory over Sonny Liston, repeating this feat just over 1-year later with an opening round knockout win over Liston in May 1965.‘The Greatest’ would go on to become undisputed heavyweight champion in 1974 with that iconic victory against George Foreman in the infamous ‘Rumble In The Jungle’.

 

Ali held the undisputed championship up until 1978 when he eventually fell short to Leon Spinks, losing via split decision to surrender his titles in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.Despite coming up against a number of formidable opponents during his storied campaign, Ali once revealed the one heavyweight that he believes would have got the better of him, even during his prime years.In a clip from BerranLee, Ali revealed Mike Tyson as the one man who he thought would have been too much for him during any stage of his career.“I’m scared of him.

He’s a real champ. [Tyson would have won], I was a dancing master. You are that powerful and so fast, if he hit me [mimics falling over].”‘Iron’ Mike is recognised as one of the most ferocious heavyweights of all time. The 58-year-old was a dominate force in the mid-to-late 1980’s, becoming the youngest world heavyweight champion in history in 1986 with that famous 2nd-round knockout win over Trevor Berbick to capture the WBC heavyweight title.
